Under the name between feathers, four musicians have come together to offer a distinctive formation to the contemporary Austrian music scene: voice, flutes, accordion, and percussion. In addition to performing both international and regional repertoire, the ensemble focuses on collaborations with composers, visual artists, and dancers who inspire the creation of thoughtfully curated programs that address the concerns of modern society.

As a New Austria Sound of Music (NASOM) ensemble for 2023 and 2024, Maria Mogas Gensana (accordion), Hannes Schöggl (percussion), and Audrey G. Perreault (flutes) have commissioned several Austrian-based composers to create new works that reflect the current Austrian sound. These composers include Klaus Lang, Petra Stump-Linshalm, Aron Ludwig, Alexander Kaiser, Pedro Berardinelli, Nava Hemyari, Tanja Brueggemann, Yulan Yu, and Emre Sihan

Since 2024, Between Feathers has expanded its collaboration with various singers, including Elīna Viļuma-Helling, Beatriz Ramos, Johannes Wieners, Helēna Sorokina, Laure-Catherine Beyers, Hannah Fheodoroff and Ana-Marija Brkić, adding a fresh dimension to their performances.

Over the past two years, Between Feathers has developed collaborations with several prestigious organizations, including mumok Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, Mostra Sonora Sueca in Spain, Project DME in Portugal, Le Vivier in Montreal (Canada), Frakzionen in Bielefeld (Germany), and the Godsbanen residency in Aarhus (Denmark).

The ensemble has also created programmatically coherent performances such as Between Feathers (Vol. 1, 2 & 3), Changing Lights, Ulysses 2022, A Room of One's Own (Vol. 1 & 2), Seems Like a Portal, and String Theory. These programs have been presented in renowned music series and festivals, including Wien Modern, New Musik Forum Ljubljana, Frakzionen 2025 in Bielefeld, Tubo de Ensaio/Arte no Tempo in Portugal, Impuls Festival in Graz, Musik+ in Hall in Tirol, Neue Musik in St. Ruprecht, Alte Schmiede, and Echoraum in Vienna, Open Music in Graz, Åbne Scene at Godsbanen in Aarhus, Denmark, NOW! Oper der Gegenwart in Graz, Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta, Malta, and Zionskirche Bielefeld, Germany. Since their first concert in May 2021, Between Feathers has premiered and commissioned over fifty new works.

Hannes Schöggl | Percussion

Hannes Schöggl finished his master in percussion with distinction in 2021 at the Music and Arts University of the city of Vienna with Prof. Nebojša Jovan Živkovic. His musical abilities in many different styles allowed him to perform as a soloist in venues like Musikverein Wien and Auditorio Santa Cruz de Teneriffa and in many ensembles (Studio Percussion Graz, Ensemble XX. Jahrhundert, Schlagwerk Wien, …) and orchestras (Neue Oper Wien, Corean Chamber Orchestra, Russian State Symphony, etc). He received several prizes, like the 1st prize and Grand Prix at Drumsfest Russia in Moscow in 2016 and works also as educator and composer.

Maria Mogas Gensana | Accordion

Maria Mogas Gensana is an accordionist specialized in the interpretation of contemporary music, member of the contemporary music Ensamble Vertixe Sonora (ESP), Duo Ar (accordion duo), Aer Duo and Between feathers (AT). She completed her Bachelor studies with Prof. Iñaki Alberdi in Musikene (ESP) and master degree PPCM (Performance Practice of Contemporary Music) with Prof. Krassimir Sterev and Klangforum Wien at Kunstuniversität Graz. She has performed in several contemporary music festivals or academies like Klangspuren-Schwaz, Mixtur Festival, FAT, Carmelo Bernaola, Biennale Graz, Impuls Festival, ENSEMS Festival, RESIS Festival, Oper Graz. She works regularly with different ensembles such as PHACE ensemble, ensemble Chromoson, XXI.Jahrhundert, Platypus ensemble, among others.

Audrey G. Perreault | Flutes

Audrey G. Perreault is a canadian new music flute player based in Vienna, Austria. She completed her Doctorate in flute performance in 2015 at Université de Montréal (CA) with Lise Daoust. In 2019-2020 she studied with the musicians of Klangforum during a Postgraduate at the Kunsuniversität Graz (Performance Practice in Contemporary Music). She is a founder of the Woodwind quintet Brevà (CA) and between feathers (AT). G. Perreault worked with ensembles such as Nouvel ensemble moderne (CA), Schallfeld Ensemble (AT) and Szene Instrumental (AT).
